The Things I Actually Love

One of the things I really wanted when I started Owl Cottage was to sell things that I genuinely liked.

Not just things that looked good in a photograph.

Not just things that were trending.

Things that I had actually tried, enjoyed and would happily recommend to someone else.

And that’s probably why some of the products in the shop have become favourites of mine too.

The Coastal Collective hand creams are a perfect example.

I’ve used them myself and absolutely love them. They’re lovely to use, they smell beautiful, and they’re the sort of little everyday luxury that makes you feel like you’ve done something nice for yourself.

And apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so!

It’s been so lovely seeing other people enjoy them too. There’s something particularly satisfying about selling a product that you already know is good and then having customers come back and tell you how much they love it.

The Coastal Collective candles are another favourite.

They’re gorgeous little candles, they smell amazing, and they’re perfect for creating that cosy feeling at home. They’re exactly the kind of thing I wanted Owl Cottage to have — simple little luxuries that can make an ordinary day feel a bit nicer.

And then there are the colouring books and colouring kits, which I’m especially happy with because the quality really matters.

There’s nothing worse than buying a colouring book that looks beautiful on the outside and then discovering the paper is terrible.

These are genuinely good quality, and I love that they’re something you can actually sit down with and enjoy.

That’s really what I’m trying to do with Owl Cottage.

I’m not trying to fill the shop with hundreds of random products.

I’m looking for things that I would personally buy.

Things that make me think, “Oh, I like that.”

Things that are useful, enjoyable, cosy, creative or just make you feel a little bit happier.

And when I find something that I love, and then someone else tells me they love it too, that’s probably one of the best parts of running Owl Cottage.

I’m still discovering new products and looking for the next things to add to the shop — although I’m learning that I can apparently spend an alarming amount of time searching for things I don’t even have yet. 😂

But that’s part of the fun.

So for now, I’m sticking with the things I know, love and can genuinely recommend.

Because if it’s good enough for Owl Cottage, I want it to be something I’d be happy to have sitting in my own home too.

Until next time,
